Objects: Lego car, football helmet, ratchet and wrench and a shirt he designed for the off-campus housing company Amicus.
Meaning Behind the Objects: Through Stalsitz’s college years, a number of items became meaningful to him, maybe none more than a LEGO car gifted to him by another Lehigh graduate, his uncle Matt Stalsitz ’00. It shouldn’t be a surprise as he grew up loving LEGOs, but his uncle tried to gift him a LEGO car that as closely resembled the 2006 Ford Mustang Stalsitz drives as he could. He built it with his uncle, who has a love of LEGOs himself.
Playing football at Lehigh, Stalsitz’s helmet from his first two years was also important to him. Football, Stalsitz said, was the only reason he was able to go to Lehigh. And what made it even more special was that he grew up a huge Lehigh football and wrestling fan, going to many of the games. A ratchet and wrench was something else he carried throughout his time at Lehigh—part of his first set of tools he received from his grandparents—that got more use once the car he drove his freshman year had the transmission drop out. From that point on, with his Mustang, then Jeep and now even a motorcycle, Stalsitz has learned to love to tinker with his modes of transportation.
Finally, Stalsitz had a shirt he designed while working for the off-campus housing company Amicus. A small role turned into something larger, not just designing merchandise, but running their NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) program. “I get to kind of give back to the Lehigh athletes and then [Amicus] gives me the ability to get more in the community and sponsor a lot of events,” he said.
