Student Name: Olivia Link
Major: Journalism
Hometown: Glen Ridge, New Jersey
Objects: Canon R3 camera
Meaning Behind the Object: A sports photographer throughout high school, Link briefly stepped away from her passion majoring in psychology. But by junior year, her Canon R3 camera was back at her side. It not only led to her changing her major to journalism and working for The Brown and White, it also helped her experience a number of unforgettable moments such as two trips to March Madness covering Lehigh’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Advice for first-year students: Embrace being comfortable in the uncomfortable. I always try to go by that, especially going into journalism. I hated writing in high school, but that was more so essays. I always loved doing creative writing. Stepping into it, I had no idea what I was doing. I didn't know how writing articles worked. I just needed one person to give me a chance. That was my sports editor at the time. He completely changed my life by giving me game recaps.
