Matthew Fainor: An Innovator of Living Textiles and Fabric Structures

Matthew Fainor ’20 is a student innovator of living textiles and fabric structures. During his tenure at Lehigh he balanced his passions as a visual communicator and biomedical designer in order to create breakthrough projects involving biomaterials, cutting edge fashion and so much more.

In the classroom, Fainor studies biomechanics, biomaterials and product design through the Integrated Degree in Arts and Sciences and Engineering honors program (IDEAS).

An Allentown, PA. native, Fainor immediately brought his passion in design and biomedical engineering to his work on campus. Among the many outstanding accomplishments under his belt is his work with the Chow Lab, an interdisciplinary team of researchers working to solve complex biochemistry issues.

Some students like buying clothes in their free time. Fainor, on the other hand, manufactures their fibers in labs and creates unique fashion pieces through avant-garde metal work.

Matthew has called Lehigh home for the past four years, enriching the university’s community with his hard work and passion. Keep an eye out for this innovative young mind with a creative flair going forward.
